時は平安。人に仇なす妖魔が跋扈するこの時代に、これらを倒す人々がいた――。京に出てきた少年・今丸は、破落戸から斡旋された盗みの仕事を受け、貴族の屋敷に忍び込む。そこで一本の錫杖を見つけ、不思議と惹かれた今丸がそれを手にすると、神が顕現した。サッタと名乗る神によれば、顕現できたのは今丸の力によるもので、そうした能力者は「神憑師」と呼ばれるという。今丸とサッタは、神憑師が集まって活動する「八咫烏寮」に入ることになり、神の力を以って妖魔を倒していく。しかし、京都には今丸の想像を超える魑魅魍魎が跋扈していて――。 In the Heian period, when demons and evil spirits that preyed upon humans ran rampant, there were people who fought against them. A boy named Imamaro comes to the capital and accepts a theft job arranged by a thug, sneaking into the residence of a noble. There, he finds a single Buddhist ritual staff. Mysteriously drawn to it, Imamaro takes it in his hand, causing a god to manifest. The god, who calls himself Satta, explains that he was able to manifest through Imamaro's power, and that people with such abilities are known as "Kamidukishi." Imamaro and Satta eventually join the "Yatagarasu Ryou," where Kamidukishi gather and work together to defeat demons using the power of the gods. However, Kyoto is teeming with all manner of supernatural creatures far beyond anything Imamaro could have imagined...
